A Stitch In Time

The threads of our company history

Part 4: The Place To Be!

We’re not just willing to change; we’re made for it. Unravel the spool to see how we got to where we are today. Our past is a part of the fabric of VF, and we should never forget where we came from.

2017

VF acquires Timberland®. This acquisition further expands VF’s Outdoor & Action Sports coalition. VF divests from its licensed sports group business, contemporary brands businesses, and Nautica®. The 2017 acquisition combines Williamson-Dickies brands including Dickies®, Workrite®, Kodiak®, Terra®, and Walls®, with VF’s current workwear offerings. VF becomes a global leader in workwear.

2018

Acquisition of icebreaker® complements VF’s Smartwool® brand, which also features Merino wool in its clothing and accessories. The two brands position VF as a global leader in the Merino wool and natural fiber categories.

VF acquires Altra®, a differentiated technical footwear brand that helps us grow in the outdoor and performance segment.

VF separates the Jeanswear organization into Kontoor Brands, Inc., an independent, publicly traded company which includes Wrangler®, Lee®, and Rock & Republic®, and the VF Outlet business.

VF is named best places to work for LGBTQ Equality by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

We’re still writing our history with associates around the world. We can’t wait to fill in the next decade and beyond together.

Until then, unwind more of our story in Issue 5.
