The company expands into silk lingerie and is renamed “Schuylkill Silk Manufacturing.” When a lingerie line gets the name “Vanity Fair” in a contest, they become “Vanity Fair Silk Mills, Inc.”
“Vanity Fair Silk Mills, Inc.” drops the word “silk” due to an embargo on the material during World War II.
